The Black Dog Blog aims to talk openly about something which impacts around 350 million people worldwide resulting in over 800,000 suicides each year and which is the 2nd most common cause of death of 15-29 year olds in the world.
Depressive Illness, commonly referred to as “The Black Dog” by those who have suffered and/or are still suffering, is a major problem here in the UK and world wide and we should not be ashamed to talk openly about it and to ask for help. In the UK alone it is estimated that 1 in 4 people suffer from depression and related mental health issues.
Through the use of tales about my own continuing personal struggle with “The Black Dog” along with stories and experiences from others and informative, educational blogs on depression, The Black Dog Blog aims to enlighten, educate and help others.
